The Winter Trial 2009

The Winter Trial is a rally that has been organised by Classic events for many years and counts for the FIA European Classic Rally Championship.
Serious stuff with two classes Trial and Club class.
There are 100+ pre ’74 Rally cars with many British entries. (See Classic Events Winter Trial site)
The format of the rally is similar as the Himalaya Trial with daylong routes with two or sometimes three special stages (regularities). The Rally starts on Sunday 25 January in Baden Baden, Germany and will travel through, Czech Republic, Slovakia and it will finish on Friday 30 January near Salzburg in Austria.

The conditions en route will (hopefully) be very wintry and we expect quite a lot of snow and ice.
So the snow chains are packed. Contrary to the Himalaya Trial we have entered this rally in the Club class as we found last year that that was quite tough.

However we have 6 solid weeks of rallying behind us so we hope to do quite well in the class.

Our nearest competitors on the Himalaya Trial, Willem en Ellen Vermeulen will also be present with a BMW 1802, as will as at least five other Himalaya colleagues.

It will be nice to see them again as we became quite a family.
